Sketchbook 4 - A Baby?!

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006

I was flipping through a sketchbook that I was drawing in when I was working on the Sword That Cuts Things 4. This comic was scrawled on one of the pages and I chuckled when I saw it.

The text, if you can’t read my horrible writing says:
Eve: Here’s our baby.
Albonshasta: What in blue blazes? A baby just came out of you!

Sketchbook 3 - Chimmy

Saturday, July 15th, 2006

When we started working on the game, I drew an enemy and called it “Chimmy”. I guess it was supposed to be a Chimera, but it ended up looking more like a man with no nose and pikachu ears. I guess it would be if Krilling from Dragon Ball and Pikachu had a child. Anyway, one day I was looking over the enemies, and every time I’d stop on Chimmy, I’d say “I can’t fight this thing, it’s just too damn cute.” Larry thought I was crazy and finally I said “I’m going to put him as one of the main characters in the game” and… well, let’s just say I was told it was a bad idea. …

Two days later there was an entire portion of the story dedicated to Chimmy. I draw pictures of him all over the place, and he is currently a very prominent part of my new pop’n controller.

Unfortunately, my friends who are working on the game with me tend to tease me about Chimmy. In fact, they spent one evening thinking of ways for Chimmy to die. I don’t know why they hate him so much. I think he’s extremely adorable. Actually, I think they’re probably just teasing me.

Anyway, without further ado, I’d like to introduce everyone to my buddy, Chimmy.

the first picture is the very first picture I drew of him when I intended him to be one of the enemies. That was the pic I fell in love with for some reason. The second pic is obviously two forms of his sprite (some of you may remember that sprite from the april fools game I made) and the last picture was one of the final character sketches I did for him.

I hope you guys don’t hate him because he’s really nice and loves you all.

Sketchbook 2 - Super Albonshasta Bros.

I drew this last year around this time for no good reason. I think it probably speaks for itself. Hope you guys like it. ^_^

Sketchbook 1 - A very bad sketch

Monday, June 26th, 2006

Well, I WAS going to post a big long post about how great this weekend was and how my friends are great and they gave me such wonderful gifts and such a great time all around. Unfortunately, however, it was a photographic entry, and my memory card for my new camera decided to erase itself upon putting it into my macintosh. I had one setting incorrect (which was a default setting, btw) and it screwed everything up. I would, in all seriousness, like to thank everyone who was around this weekend, because you all are wonderful. And I will, as soon as I get larry’s photos from this weekend, try to do an update worthy of this weekend.

Anyway… That being said, I decided that I am going to do a sketchbook entry, possibly every week if I have enough material for it. These are sketches of concept art for characters I’ve designed or animations I’ve done. I found this one while cleaning my basement this weekend and I pretty much fell off of my chair I was laughing so hard. This is my very very very very very rough sketch of my concept for the very first sword that cuts things animation. Look at Albonshasta! He looks like a mix between Kenny from South Park, a very badly drawn white mage, and some sort of ghost. Anyway, without further ado:
